How AI Video Upscaler+ Works
Four steps, all running locally on your PC — no video ever leaves your machine. Here's exactly how to go from an old, low-resolution clip to a crisp, high-resolution, smooth-motion video.
Pick the video you want to upscale
Click + Add Video and browse to any video file on your PC — a recent 1080p clip, or a video shot years ago on an old phone at 640×480.
- Almost any common video format works — MP4, MOV, 3GP, AVI and more.
- There's no minimum quality requirement — in fact, lower-resolution, lower-frame-rate source videos are exactly where AI Video Upscaler+ makes the biggest visible difference.
- Queue more than one video — they'll process one after another in the background.
Choose your target resolution and frame rate
AI Video Upscaler+ can improve either or both of the two things that make old footage look dated:
- Resolution — upscale to 1440p, 2K, 4K or even 8K, adding real detail rather than just stretching the pixels.
- Frame rate — raise a choppy 24 or 30 fps source up to a smooth 45 or 60 fps by generating genuinely new in-between frames with AI, not simple frame duplication.
Doing both at once
This is where AI Video Upscaler+ is most useful: take an old, low-resolution, low-frame-rate phone video (say, 640×480 at 24 fps) and turn it into a sharp 4K, 60 fps video in a single pass — resolution and motion smoothness improved together.
Fine-tune processing options
Sensible defaults are already selected, so this step is optional — but a few settings are worth knowing about:
- Face restoration (GFPGAN) sharpens and repairs faces already in your footage for a noticeably cleaner result.
- GPU device lets you pick which graphics card does the work, if your PC has more than one.
- Video codec — Auto picks H.264 or HEVC automatically based on output resolution; you can also force either one from Settings.
Generate and keep working
Click Start. You'll see frame-by-frame progress as AI Video Upscaler+ processes your video.
- Queue another video while one is already processing — it starts automatically once the current one finishes.
- Everything runs in the background on your own PC, so you can keep working in other apps while it processes.
- A native Windows notification lets you know the moment each video is ready — no need to keep checking back.
- Every finished video is saved locally and shows up in your Projects tab for quick access later.
