Where is the app?

Don't be confused with the way the application Starts, Stops, or Hides itself..

The Desktop Live Wallpaper+ app is a Desktop application that is always running behind the actual Windows Desktop where you may have two or more Applications opened and running together. Each traditional Windows application has it's own window to maximize, minimize or close.

Due to the fact that the Desktop Live Wallpaper+ is always running behind the other apps, the application can be controlled by it's green Taskbar icon that is always placed on the Windows right-bottom corner when the app is running, together with the Date/Time of the Windows machine, the icon of the Network connectivity, etc.

How to Start, Hide or Stop the Desktop Live Wallpaper+

Starting the Desktop Live Wallpaper+ app is the same as starting every other Windows application that you have download from the official Windows Store. If it isn't pinned on the Taskbar by you, click on the Windows Logo on the bottom-left and pick up the application (you will find it under the Letter "D").

Are you forced to always start by yourself the application each time you logon to Windows?

The answer is No!  After the first initial launch of the Desktop Live Wallpaper+, the app will be added to the Windows startup processes/applications, so each time you logon to Windows, it will start playing the Timeline immediatelly which is the expected behavior. You may control this from the App Settings and choose e.g. not to show the Timeline on every logon, but only start Playing the Timeline. We explain this on the next pages.

Stoping the Desktop Live Wallpaper+ app completely can be done with either two ways: 

a) If the Timeline Window is displayed, click on the blue button on the bottom "Stop & Exit App..."

b) If the Timeline Window is not displayed and the app is running, right-click on the green Taskbar icon of the app and choose the "Exit" option (shown below).

Info: The first option on the menu above, the "Show Timeline" starts the Timeline Window only...

Info: If the app exits, then just before stopping it will replace the active Desktop that you see with your user-choise that you have set in the Windows Settings (either color, picture or slideshow)!

If you close the Timeline window, the app hides itself but continues to play the Timeline in the Desktop (and you can access it from the Taskbar icon). If you want to pause the Timeline, just click on the blue "Pause" button on the bottom of the Timeline!

How to create, reorder or modify the media files in the Timeline

As you can see in the example screenshot below, the Timeline is the heart of the application!

The media files that consist your Timeline are in the middle of the Page (marked as 2)!

If you want to re-order the media files, just drag and drop them using your mouse, and place them in the order you want! Click on the "Apply Changes" button that will appear!

If you want to add a new media file in the Timeline, click on the blue button "Add Photos/Videos.." (marked as 3 in the example) and select a gif, jpg, mp4, etc from your Folders. The file must be stored locally on the PC!

Finally, if you want to remove a media file from the Timeline, click on the blue "X" button on the right corner of it. The file will not be deleted from the PC.

How to select the media files to use

Keep in mind that the Desktop Live Wallpaper+ app can do some really cool things with the Desktop but can't do really magic things.

Remember that it is a normal Windows app and when running is kept in your PC's Memory (RAM).

We have do our best to keep things as simple as possible and the tradeoff between the smoothness of the videos played and the percentage (%) of the CPU and the RAM that the app uses, is pretty good. The GPU % that we use is rather small (but not zero)! We mention videos because decoding and displaying a video on the screen is the most resourse-greedy media type.

For example if you choose/select to add a 4K video footage but you have an old hardware PC (!) then probably you will see a very flickering video on your Desktop. Such a video in a low-end hardware, probably will never be played smoothly even if you try the most advanced Video Player that exist.

Moreover, higher resolution for a video means more storage space of the file in your hard drive.

a) Always remember (or try to remember) the resolution of your Windows/graphics card display and try to download/select photos and videos that are close to the one you have.
If for example you have a 1200x800 resolution in your display, then selecting a 4K picture to show or a 2000x1000 video then the optical result for you will be the same even if you choose to display the same picture in a lower quality, but the app will use more resources (RAM, CPU and GPU) in order to display them.

Info: If you don't know your Monitor resolution, just right-click on the Desktop and select the "Display Settings" from the Windows 10 menu (the second option from the bottom). On the next page, somewhere in the middle you will see a section with your resolution.

When selecting wallpapers to download in order to use them in the app, avoid portrait wallpapers and stick to the landscape ones. They will not look good. We mention this, because when you will browse websites looking for wallpapers to download and use, many websites have messed the protrait and the landscapes, as they offer wallpapers both for phones and PC's.
